A Planner’s Guide to Northeast PA

NEPA Wedding Venue Guide

Choosing a venue shapes almost every other decision: your guest count, your budget, your vendors and your timeline. This guide gathers a selection of wedding venues across Northeast Pennsylvania, with the key facts each venue shares publicly and a planner’s note on what to plan for at each style of venue.

  • Scranton: Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, The Green Ridge Club
  • Wilkes-Barre & the Back Mountain: The Stegmaier, The Beaumont Inn, Irem Pavilion, The AppleTree Terrace at Newberry Estate, The Barn at Shadyrill Farm, Friedman Farms
  • The Poconos: The Stroudsmoor, Sylvan Ridge Farm

The Borrowed Bridesmaid isn’t affiliated with these venues. Details are summarized from each venue’s website or listing as of October 2026 and can change, so please confirm with the venue.

Scranton

More on planning here: Scranton weddings.

Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple

420 N. Washington Avenue, downtown Scranton

  • Listed on the National Register of Historic Places
  • Grand Ballroom with dinner seating for up to 750 guests
  • Smaller rooms such as Craftsmen Hall (chapel-like, dinner for up to 100) and the Casey Library (dinner for 10 to 50) suit intimate ceremonies, showers and rehearsal dinners

Planner’s note: With several rooms under one roof, a clear room-by-room timeline (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception flips) and guest signage make a big difference. It’s also an elegant option for a shower or rehearsal dinner in a smaller room.

The Green Ridge Club

1645 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton

  • A historic building of more than 120 years, renovated under new ownership
  • Grand Ballroom with hardwood floors and a center stage, seating up to 175 guests with a dance floor
  • All-inclusive packages and a dedicated Event Director who coordinates with your vendors and event planner

Planner’s note: All-inclusive venues handle food, bar and rentals. A day-of coordinator complements the venue team by managing your outside vendors (photo, music, florals, hair and makeup), the bridal party and the full-day timeline beyond the reception.

Details from The Green Ridge Club; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

Wilkes-Barre & the Back Mountain

The Stegmaier

156 S. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre

  • Two historic properties: the Mary Stegmaier Mansion (built 1910) and the Frederick Stegmaier guesthouse (built 1870)
  • Grand ballroom for ceremonies and receptions, with up to 120 guests for a reception and a full-mansion buyout for larger celebrations
  • Guest rooms at the Frederick Stegmaier guesthouse

Planner’s note: Historic mansions reward careful flow planning: where guests gather between ceremony and reception, where the wedding party gets ready, and when vendors can load in.

Details from The Stegmaier; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

The Beaumont Inn

Route 309, Dallas (Back Mountain)

  • 50 acres of botanical gardens for ceremonies and photos
  • Climate-controlled Grande Pavilion for up to 300 guests, usable year-round
  • Two-tiered flagstone patios overlooking Leonard’s Creek, plus on-site wedding specialists and overnight rooms

Planner’s note: When the wedding party stays on site, getting-ready, first look and photo timing can be built around the gardens without travel time. Plan an indoor or covered backup for an outdoor ceremony.

Details from The Beaumont Inn; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

Irem Pavilion

70 Ridgway Drive, Dallas

  • Outdoor venue on the Irem Country Club grounds, surrounded by an 18-hole golf course
  • Ceremonies beneath a wedding arch on the course, cocktail hour on the pavilion deck
  • Reception in the main pavilion, rain or shine, with a liberal decoration policy

Planner’s note: Open-air pavilions are a blank canvas: decor, lighting, rentals and an evening temperature plan (layers, heaters, bug spray) should all be on the checklist.

Details from Irem Pavilion; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

The AppleTree Terrace at Newberry Estate

Newberry Estate, Dallas

  • Outdoor ceremony site with a pergola, plus an indoor option
  • Large indoor banquet hall with an attached bar room and patio
  • Seating for 180 to 200 guests; Friday, Sunday and winter wedding packages at discounted prices

Planner’s note: An outdoor ceremony with a ready indoor fallback is ideal. Decide the weather call time with the venue in advance so vendors and guests aren’t left guessing.

Details from The AppleTree Terrace; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

The Barn at Shadyrill Farm

Loyalville Road, Dallas

  • A family home and working produce farm for 45 years
  • Renovated barn with rough-cut lumber walls, chandeliers and 15-foot ceilings
  • Two restrooms, a bridal room and a large kitchen for catering setup

Planner’s note: Barn weddings usually mean bringing in your own caterer and rentals. A coordinator keeps delivery windows, setup, breakdown and vendor meals on one schedule.

Friedman Farms

Dallas

  • Hosting weddings since 2006 on 145 acres of fields and hilltop views
  • A climate-controlled, 140-foot, three-level barn seating up to 200 guests
  • Outdoor ceremony sites including a hilltop, a fireplace and a gazebo, plus an indoor loft

Planner’s note: Multiple ceremony sites mean choosing one early and planning a guest path, seating and sound for it, along with a rain plan.

Details from the Friedman Farms WeddingWire listing; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

The Poconos

More on planning here: The Poconos weddings.

The Stroudsmoor

Stroudsburg

  • A 200-acre mountaintop estate in the Poconos
  • Three distinct wedding venues: Terraview, Ridgecrest and Woodsgate
  • Part of the Wedgewood Weddings family, with up to 350 guests

Planner’s note: Large estates with several venues have their own planning teams. Personal day-of support for the couple and the bridal party, and planning for showers, the bachelorette or the rehearsal dinner, sit alongside that.

Details from The Stroudsmoor’s WeddingWire listing; confirm current packages, capacity and policies with the venue.

Sylvan Ridge Farm

Milford

  • 200 private acres overlooking the Delaware River Valley
  • An Amish-built wedding barn with indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Full-weekend weddings that include professional coordination and overnight accommodation, about 10 minutes from I-84

Planner’s note: Weekend-long weddings are a great fit for celebrations around the main event: welcome gatherings, a rehearsal dinner or a farewell brunch.

Questions to Ask Any Venue

  • What’s included in the price (tables, chairs, linens, catering, bar, setup and cleanup), and what do we bring in?
  • Can we use our own caterer, bartender, florist and other vendors? Are there preferred or required vendors?
  • What’s the rain plan for outdoor spaces, and when is the weather decision made?
  • When can vendors arrive for setup, and when must everything be cleared out?
  • Is there a getting-ready space for each side of the wedding party?
  • What are the rules on candles, confetti, sparklers, decor and music end times?
  • Is there on-site lodging or a nearby hotel for guests, and is transportation needed?
  • Who is our point of contact on the day, and how do they work with an outside planner or coordinator?
